Hyve Journeys: From Finance Analyst to Finance M&A Integration Manager

Hyve Journeys: sharing real career stories from across Hyve. Next up: Marcelo Siqueira.

Welcome to Hyve Journeys – where we bring to life how people grow their careers at Hyve.

Marcelo joined Hyve as a Finance Analyst in Brazil seven years ago. Since then, he has continued to challenge himself, broaden his contribution to the business and look for what could come next. Earlier this year, that next step took him halfway across the world to London, where he joined the Finance team as M&A Finance Integration Manager.

In this edition of Hyve Journeys, Marcelo shares how taking on new challenges, building relationships across the business and making the most of opportunities have helped him progress his career at Hyve.

Can you tell us how your Journey at Hyve began?

I joined Hyve in 2019 as a Finance Analyst in Brazil, just two months before Bett Brazil, so I started in the eye of the hurricane! A few months later, I was promoted to Finance Manager, which felt like a nice way of saying, ‘You’re up to the task.’ From there, I began taking on more responsibility as the event grew, working closely with Claudia, Bett Brazil’s Event Director.

As Bett Brazil continued to grow, so did my role, giving me the opportunity to develop my skills and become more involved in the wider portfolio. I started travelling to London every year for Bett UK, which gave me exposure to the wider business. In 2024, I was lucky enough to win a Hy Five award, which brought me back to London and gave me the chance to build relationships with senior leaders and colleagues across Hyve. These experiences helped me feel more connected to the global business and encouraged me to think about where I wanted to take my career next.

What came next for you at Hyve, and how did the opportunity to move to London come about?

In 2025, I was selected to be part of the Future Leaders Programme, and this marked a real turning point for me. The programme gave me the opportunity to develop my skills, build relationships across the business and think more seriously about my future. Alongside valuable training sessions, I had a mentoring session with Hyve’s CEO, Mark Shashoua, where I was able to discuss my ambitions and what I envisioned for my career in the coming years.

Mark encouraged me to speak with CFO James Warsop, who highlighted an opportunity in London in the integration team, which was expanding to support Hyve’s growing acquisitions. There was an opening for a Finance M&A Integration Manager, and Hyve was willing to support me in relocating to London to take on the role. It felt like the right opportunity at the right time, allowing me to bring everything I'd learnt in Brazil into a new role, while continuing to build my career at Hyve. I made the move to London in June 2026.

For me, the opportunity to relocate reflected something I’ve always valued about Hyve. If you show what you can contribute, keep asking what more you can do and are open about where you want to go, there are opportunities to keep developing your career.

What’s been your proudest achievement or most memorable moment at Hyve?

My proudest achievement has to be creating the pricing structure in Brazil, which I built completely from scratch. Before this was in place, we didn’t offer rebook at Bett Brazil, but the new pricing structure meant we could introduce it. I’m really proud that something I created made a real difference to the event and is still being used today. Leaving that kind of legacy is incredibly fulfilling.

What advice would you give someone looking to grow within the company?

There is so much opportunity at Hyve if you’re willing to ask for it. Believe in yourself, be hungry and always be looking for more.

Be open about your ambitions and where you want your career to go next. It’s a great place to build a long-term career because there are always opportunities to keep moving, learning and challenging yourself. Keep asking yourself what more you could do.

How were you supported during your promotion/growth by Hyve?

My leaders have always been so supportive, especially Claudia Valerio, Rob Chillman and Peter Reeves. They’ve given me different perspectives, encouraged me to take on more responsibility and advocated for me throughout my career. When the opportunity to relocate to London came up, having people who believed in me and supported that next step made a real difference.

Looking back, what’s something you’ve learned about yourself through your career journey?

I’ve learnt so much about myself since I started at Hyve, but one of the biggest things has been recognising my own potential as a leader.

In Brazil, I found that people would naturally come to me for answers and guidance, and I realised how much I enjoyed being someone the team could rely on. As I’ve taken on more responsibility over the years, I’ve become more confident in my ability to lead and in what I can bring to a team.

If you had to sum up your Hyve career journey in one word, what would it be — and why?

Development. I always knew I was capable of more, but Hyve has given me the opportunity to challenge myself, take on more and keep growing. Looking back at how far I’ve come is incredibly rewarding.

And finally, what are you loving about London so far, and what’s taking some getting used to?

I love that there’s always something to do in London. No matter what you’re interested in, where you are or what time it is, there’s always something happening, and I love that.

My least favourite thing, however… I won’t say the weather, although I’m definitely not looking forward to winter! I’ll have to say the transport. I had high hopes for the Tube, especially the Elizabeth line, but there seems to be something going wrong every day. I suppose complaining about the Tube means I’m officially a Londoner now!
