Mark was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in September 2016. Mark was previously the CEO of i2i Events Group, the event arm of Ascential plc, where he spent five years leading the internationalisation and diversification of the business.

Mark was one of the founding members of Hyve Group plc, then called ITE Group, in 1991, where he was a senior Director and Board member for eight years. He is also a prominent figure in the international events industry and was recently appointed to the Board of UFI, the Global Association of the Events Industry. 

Mark’s focus is on evolving the business and working towards achieving its ambition. He spends considerable time alongside regional leaders and event teams, discussing the strategy of each market-leading show and planning for sustainable growth.

Mark is passionate about representing the evolution of customers’ behaviours in the events industry and pioneering constant change, while delivering value to shareholders.

John Gulliver

John Gulliver

Chief Finance and Operations Officer

John was appointed as the Company’s COO in October 2017. With effect from 1 October 2020 John took up the newly-formed combined role of CFO and COO. He oversaw the rollout of best practice as part of the TAG programme. John also has responsibility for implementing and maintaining our best practice operating model across our global network of exhibitions.

Prior to joining, John held senior financial positions in the media sector, including Interim CFO at Emap/Top Right Group and also Divisional CFO at Ascential, and CFO of i2i Events Group from June 2012 to June 2017, where he worked alongside Mark Shashoua, CEO. Prior to that, John was Finance Director at Precise Media from 2008 to 2010.

John’s background in finance and operational transformation, as well as his experience in the events sector, underpins his passion for bringing about positive change and disruption within the industry. John enjoys working in a change-led environment and loves the passion, energy and sense of achievement that occur as the company, and the people working within it, realise their potential. 

Jo Rabbett

Chief Talent Officer

As Chief Talent Officer, Jo is responsible for creating a global unified workplace culture which supports Hyve in achieving its ambitions and realising its full potential. Working alongside the Executive leadership, Jo will lead all Group-wide people initiatives and accelerate Hyve’s investment in people, as it evolves into an omnichannel business.

Particular areas of focus for Jo are developing and retaining talent within the business, enhancing reward, celebrating the values and encouraging inclusivity.

Jo joined Hyve in November of 2020, bringing with her 20 years of HR experience. Prior to joining Hyve, Jo held a number of senior and international HR positions in the media industry. Her latest work was providing HR consultancy to DMGT and prior to that she has supported Guardian Media Group, as well as i2i Events Group, where she worked alongside Mark Shashoua and John Gulliver. Most recently though, Jo has been combining her love of travel and food whilst she toured Europe in her converted van.

Jo’s passion lies in nurturing a place of work which celebrates and develops the talent that exists within a business.

Interim General Counsel

Mark is responsible for leading our global legal team and for overseeing our worldwide legal affairs including corporate, commercial, data privacy, compliance, litigation and intellectual property matters. He joined in 2021 to offer interim cover for Hyve's General Counsel, Helen Kennedy-Shamir.
 
Mark’s career spans global law firm White & Case, corporate finance firm Ondra Partners and executive legal roles. Mark brings diverse experience across public and private, multinational, growth and turnaround situations, including at The Co-operative Bank, Domestic & General and most recently a NASDAQ listed biotech. Mark holds a law degree from the University of Oxford.

Mark is passionate about ensuring the legal team is aligned to the value drivers of the business and the power of collaboration to overcome complex problems and create an enjoyable place to work.
Gordon Payne

Gordon Payne

Chief Transition and Integration Officer

Based in our New York office, Gordon supports the delivery of Hyve's ambitious strategy through seamless integration of our acquisitions, including the incredible Shoptalk and Groceryshop events and Meetups, as well as the recently acquired 121 Group. 

Gordon has been with Hyve since February 2017 and was Regional Director for the Group's Asia division until 2021. He has over 20 years of senior leadership experience in major business media companies including UBM (now Informa Markets) where he led their highly successfully business in Amsterdam for eight years. Prior to Hyve, Gordon worked with Mark Shashoua on the acclaimed transformation of Emap connect into i2i Events Group, where he focused on creating the critical international dimension to the business that drove much of i2i’s growth. Gordon has worked extensively in China, India, Latin America, Middle East, USA and Europe and currently lives in Hong Kong.

James Warsop

Group Finance Director


James joined Hyve in February 2016 and worked in a number of roles within the Group Finance team prior to being appointed as Group Finance Director in October 2020. James leads our global finance teams and is responsible for Hyve’s Group-wide finance activities, including financial reporting, commercial finance, tax, treasury and procurement. During his time at Hyve James has played a key role in the Group’s evolution, overseeing the financial elements of the Group’s M&A activity and its TAG transformation programme.
 
James qualified as a chartered accountant at Deloitte where he worked in the audit practice from 2009 to 2014. While at Deloitte James managed the audit engagement for a number of organisations within the events sector, including Informa and ITE. Prior to joining Hyve James spent 18 months at The Football Association within the Group finance team.
Nikki Griffiths

Group Communications & ESG Director


Having supported Hyve on a consultancy basis for a number of years, Nikki was appointed as Group Communications and ESG Director in October 2021. Unlike most Communications Directors, whose discipline is usually media and PR, Nikki's background lies predominantly in the field of internal communication and colleague engagement, demonstrating Hyve's prioritisation of its people, and its commitment to creating a supportive and positive culture. 

Nikki is also responsible for the creation and implementation of Hyve's environment, social and governance strategy, as the Group looks to take a more proactive role in addressing sustainability not just within the event sector, but also across those sectors our brands support. 

Nikki is hugely passionate about inclusion and creating opportunities from people of all backgrounds to succeed, as well as a culture where every colleague can be themselves and do their best work. 
Marina Calero

Marina Calero

Group Head of Investor Relations


Marina joined Hyve in October 2021 and is responsible for creating a new Investor Relations function within the Group to lead the engagement between Hyve and its investment community, while educating the market about Hyve’s unique proposition, as we recover from COVID-19 and explore opportunities beyond.
 
Throughout her 20 year career in Investor Relations advisory, Marina created and put into practice numerous strategies to communicate clients’ often complex value propositions, across a broad spectrum of sectors and geographies. Marina recently completed a three-year secondment as IR Director for McCarthy and Stone, the largest owner, developer and manager of retirement communities in the UK.
 
Having advised on over 30 IPOs, raising over US$40bn, Marina has a strong track record of providing counselling on strategic positioning for transactions in Europe and emerging markets.

Marina is passionate about bringing the right people together – be it investors and management teams or IR industry professionals. She is a founder and host of an international peer-to-peer network of senior IR professionals aimed at experience sharing to foster further development of best practice at the time when the IR industry is impacted by complex regulatory changes, the rise of ESG and challenges associated with the pandemic.

Steve joined Hyve in January 2021 – a pivotal moment for the Group as we evolve our omnichannel strategy and enhance our digital capability. As SVP Product, Steve’s focus is on creating a world-class digital experience for customers and developing new and effective ways for them to make connections, learn and do business throughout the year.

Steve has an extensive background in helping organisations across the media, publishing and edtech industries to maximise digital opportunities and create strong digital communities. Most recently, Steve was Chief Operating Officer at Tes Global, a large private equity-owned edtech business with the largest teacher community in the world.

Prior to Tes, Steve has worked at Pearson Education, Skype and the Financial Times launching a raft of category-leading and award-winning digital products and services. Steve is passionate about helping teams to flourish through developing trust and creating a shared excitement in the power of the products they’re building. He has been a regular visitor and exhibitor at Bett and is looking forward to exploring new ways to support customers and facilitate meaningful connections at all Hyve events.

Steve holds an MBA from IE Madrid and a Master’s degree from Warwick University.

Dmitry Zavgorodniy

Dmitry Zavgorodniy

General Director, Russia


Dmitry is the Regional Director and the Board Member at Hyve Group Russia. He joined in November 2017.  Dmitry has a track record of top management roles in food-related businesses, such as Tata Global Beverages Eastern Europe, McCain LLC and Mars LLC. At different times between 2012 to 2017 he was the Board Member at Black Earth Farming Ltd, Alma Holding Ltd, and United Meat Group. Dmitry has a master’s degree in International Relations (University of Oriental Studies, Paris, France), as well as Economic and Political Problems of Real Estate Development (Sorbonne University, Paris, France).
Kemal Ulgen

Kemal Ulgen

Regional Director Eastern and Southern Europe


Kemal is the Regional Director of Turkey & Ukraine for Hyve Group. Born in Ankara in 1972, Kemal graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Business Administration, and then started his career in 1997 at Procter&Gamble. He assumed various roles in Sales and Marketing before joining BAT as a Commercial Marketing Business Development Manager as of November 2001. After working as the Commercial Marketing Manager of Imperial Tobacco in 2007, Kemal continued his career again at Imperial Tobacco as a Country Manager responsible for the UK, the UAE, Oman and Qatar. After Imperial Tobacco Kemal became General Manager of Herbalife Turkey and in 2018, he joined Hyve Group. Kemal is married and has two children.

Having held a number of leadership roles since joining Hyve in July 2018, Julie now leads Hyve's Retail, Manufacturing and Engineering division. Julie brings with her 15 years of experience leading businesses predominantly within the Retail space at Ascential and Emap where she delivered significant UK and international growth across various media including digital, sponsorship, awards, conferences, summits, publishing and large scale exhibitions. Most recently Julie lead the transformation of Pure London whilst completing an MBA from Imperial College Business School where she was awarded the prestigious scholarship for ‘most inspiring business leader’.  Julie is passionate about UK retail and sits on various industry boards and advisory committees such as the AEO, the NEC, the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry, the Giftware Association and is a judge for the prestigious UK Drapers awards.
Rachel Brodie

Managing Director, EdTech & Commodities


Rachel leads the EdTech and Commodities division at Hyve Group, which she joined in July 2018. She started her career in education, teaching English at a university in Mexico City, before moving into educational publishing. For seven years she commissioned and published English Language Teaching materials, most recently as Publisher of Adult ELT at Macmillan Education. Rachel joined i2i Events Group in 2013 to lead the expansion of Bett globally, launching events in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Since then she has worked across the EdTech portfolio of events, launching in new markets and driving significant growth across various channels, including digital, exhibitions, conferences and awards.
Thomas Whelan

Regional Director, Asia

Based in Hong Kong, Tom is Regional Director for the Asia division and also sits on the board of Hyve’s joint ventures in China and Indonesia. Tom joined Hyve in October 2016 as Finance Director, Asia. Prior to joining Hyve, Tom held senior roles in finance and procurement across real estate, banking and telecom businesses such as JLL, Citibank & Singtel-Optus, alongside leading a lean transformation program to drive operational efficiencies. Tom has a master’s degree in Finance from University College, Dublin and is a qualified accountant.

Tom is passionate about driving a collaborative and supportive culture across all business workstreams to support and implement Hyve’s dynamic customer-centric strategy.
